AIPAH received over 60 visitors during our Open Day on last Saturday. This bi-annual event at Harris Park near Parramatta, was an opportunity to discover the various performing arts based high school courses available, demonstrated first-hand by current students.
There was plenty to entertain and inspire potential newcomers to the school, with performances and classroom displays throughout the 3-hour event. With perfect weather conditions, visitors were able to sit and relax in the open air, enjoy some light refreshments provided by the very active and friendly P&F volunteers, who ‘kept everyone fed and watered’. This Open Day also saw the launch of the new Scholarship Programme which was a key attraction for many visitors. Said Debra Aarons, Principal of AIPAH ““The success of this Open Day reflects the school’s close partnership with our students and their families, and the mutual love for the performing arts.” “We are excited by our Scholarship Programme. We want to encourage kids to explore all AIPAH has to offer especially if they have plans to pursue any number of other opportunities that exist within the performing arts sector. Providing some level of funding to students is just one way we can support them as they pursue their dreams of working in the Arts.” For more information, call 02-9637 0777 or visit www.aipah.nsw.edu.au AIPAH Welcomes Oriana Panozzo as Performing Arts Coordinator

AIPAH WELCOMES YOUTH CHAMP MONIQUE COLEMAN
Students of the Australian International Performing Arts High School (AIPAH) are in for a treat with international celebrity guest Monique Coleman set to visit various schools around Australia as part of a worldwide tour for her role as the first-ever appointed United Nations’ “Youth Champion.”
Monique Coleman, who most kids would recognize as playing Taylor McKessie in popular film series High School Musical, will be visiting the Harris Park campus for a one-hour set from 1.15 – 2.15pm on Wednesday February 2nd, 2011. As part of this year’s International Year of Youth titled Our Year. Our Youth which runs from August 2010 – August 2011, the tour aims to raise awareness of the challenges facing today’s youth including body image, self esteem issues and bullying. Monique hopes her presentation will inspire Australian kids to speak out about their issues, voice their concerns and ultimately give youths a sense of empowerment. With Monique Coleman incorporating her celebrity profile with this important cause it is a very admirable feat which AIPAH is honoured to be a part of, and proud to be a representative of Australian youth.
